# Treatment with modern metal braces.

> Fixed braces with brackets bonded to the front of each tooth and connected by an archwire. The most direct route for many complex cases, and the most established.

## Stages

### 1. A free consultation and a 3D scan

Your first visit is a 3D scan and digital imaging, taken in-house. The consultation costs nothing and there is no obligation to start. This is where the honest answer about what your case needs comes from — a scan, not a website.

*One visit*

### 2. The plan comes before the appliance

Dr. Nael builds the movement plan from your scan and digital imaging. Metal braces are often the most direct route for a case with a lot of movement to do, and the consultation is where that judgement is made.

### 3. Fitting the brackets

Brackets are bonded to the front of each tooth and connected by an archwire. You are shown how to clean around them and which foods to avoid while the appliance is on.

*About one hour*

### 4. Adjustments through treatment

The wire is adjusted once a month as the teeth move, and Dr. Nael reviews progress against the original plan at each visit. How long the whole course takes depends on your case — it is part of the plan you see before you start.

*Monthly adjustments*

### 5. Retention afterwards

Once the brackets come off you move into a retainer, which holds the result and is included in the treatment price. It is either a removable clear retainer worn at night or a permanent bonded one fitted behind the teeth, decided case by case.
